Item 43 — Statement about the availability of software, trained model, and/or data

State where the reader can access the software, model, and/or data associated with the study, including conditions under which these resources can be accessed. Describe the algorithms and software in sufficient detail to allow replication of the study. Authors should deposit all computer code used for modelling and/or data analysis into a publicly accessible repository.

Explanation and Elaboration: Availability of the software, trained model, and data fosters reproducibility and accelerates scientific progress. Experience has shown that resources that are “available on request” frequently turn out not to be available, so open sharing through deposits of resources into established repositories is strongly preferred. For studies where sharing is restricted due to privacy or legal concerns, authors should clarify these limitations and, if possible, offer alternative ways for external researchers to collaborate or gain access to relevant resources.
